Dave Spencer, Founder and Chairman
Dave Spencer founded BayKids in 1997 and served as the Executive Director until 2001. He continues to be an active member on the board. He is the founder of the premier San Francisco health and wellness spa, Sen Spa. Dave is the board president of the Florence Academy of Arts and serves on the board of The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Dave also worked many years doing community outreach with the S.F. Giants and the Oakland A’s. He received an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Mark Barmore, Executive Director
Mark grew up in San Francisco and has been serving children as a lawyer and educator for 25 years. As a Deputy City Attorney, he served as General Counsel for the San Francisco Unified School District, before his passion for children and education led him to the classroom. He worked as a teacher and principal in San Francisco before becoming Superintendent of Schools in the San Jose area. As Superintendent, he co-sponsored an annual student film festival with other local superintendents, and he is passionate about the educational and therapeutic value of filmmaking.
Mimi Rauschendorf, Program Manager
As Program Manager, Mimi is responsible for directing filmmaking programs in the hospital. Before moving to San Francisco and exploring the independent film landscape here, she worked as a producer in Europe on over 15 major feature film productions. Mimi is currently the owner and producer of Überfilm Productions, a production company specializing in web and presentation videos.
Andrew Call, Board Member
Andrew works in Legal Operations at Houzz in Palo Alto. Prior to that, he worked in Operations at Uber and Facebook. He is passionate about the intersection between medicine and filmmaking and has been an active BayKids board member since 2014. Andrew has a special interest in career coaching and received his BA from UC Santa Cruz.
Alison Caron, Board Member
Alison joined BayKids in 2011 as co-chair of Women in Motion, focusing on fundraising. She spent 20 years as a management consultant specializing in IT project management, business process improvement, and operations for companies in the apparel and footwear industries. Alison received a degree in English and a Masters in Education from the University of Colorado. She has spent over five years working with the Parca Auxiliary, including two years serving on the board of directors.
Crisanta De Guzman, Board Member
Crisanta is a sculptor, experimental filmmaker, and a member of the BayKids filmmaking team. Her short films have been screened at national and international film festivals. Her film “Happy Dance,” a short film about her autistic son James, premiered at CAAMFest SF 2015. A graduate of Cambridge University and the Ateneo de Manila University, she worked in finance for Deutsche Bank and UBS before focusing on the arts, film, and philanthropy. Crisanta is a partner at the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund and a regular volunteer at Reading Partners.
Hooan Khalili, Board Member
Hooman Khalili is a radio personality in the S.F. Bay Area on Alice Radio 97.3 FM (CBS Radio). He has been part of the Sarah and Vinnie morning show for the past 17 years. An accomplished filmmaker, Hooman created the #1 most-viewed, non-partisan video to get out the youth vote in the 2008 presidential election. The video now resides in the museum of Radio and Television in NYC. In 2011, Hooman made Olive, the first full-length feature film shot entirely on a cell phone. Starring Gena Rowlands and featuring five original songs written and performed by Dolly Parton, OLIVE qualified for the academy awards in 2011.
Suzy Tobin Lester, Board Member
Suzy has a long history of chairing non-profit benefits to raise funds for charity. She joined BayKids in 2011 as co-chair of Women in Motion. Suzy spent eighteen years in the fashion industry as part of Nordstrom’s management team. At Nordstrom’s she initiated many collaborative events between Nordstrom and local charities. Suzy is a sustainer with the Junior League and PARCA and is actively involved with her children’s school.
Jeremy Veit, Board Member
Jeremy is a Partner in Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s San Francisco office. His practice at Kirkland focuses on all aspects of private equity transactions, particularly leveraged acquisitions of both public and private targets and equity and debt financings. In addition, Jeremy has experience in both public and private securities offerings, fund formation, executive compensation matters and general corporate matters.
